CBTF Student FAQ

When should I show up to my exam?

  • You should plan to show up 10 minutes before your listed reservation time. Proctors will open up the doors to the testing facility at this time to check you in to the center and provide you sign-in instruction

What do I need to check in and start the exam

  • You will need your Student-ID to get checked in with the proctors. Additionally, you will need to bring a Duo-mobile registered device to authenticate your CalNet login when signing into PrairieTest on the CBTF computers. After logging in, you will need to stow away your device (make sure it's on silent) and other belongings in the designated areas.

Can I use the bathroom during my exam?

  • Yes, one person is allowed to use the bathroom at a time. You will need to check in with a proctor before leaving. You are not allowed to bring anything with you.
  • Note that Sutardja Dai Hall's building hours close at 5:30pm. The nearest bathroom after SDH would be Evans Hall or the Grimes Engineering Center

Can I eat or drink in the CBTF?

  • Water is fine to have on your desks while testing in the CBTF. If you can, please put them on the ground next to your desk to avoid spilling on the computers / equipment
  • Food and drinks other than water are prohibited on the CBTF computer desks

Can I still take my exam if I show up late?

  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes late to your reservation, you will be noted as a “no show”, your exam access will be blocked, and you will have to work with a course staff member to manually override and allow you to reschedule.
  • This means that if you have an “extra time” accommodation but don’t think you will need the extra time, you still need to show up on time. You should plan to show up 5-10 minutes early to your reserved test time. A CBTF proctor will be present to let you in (if you arrive while the previous session is still in progress, please wait quietly outside).

What do I do if I have a question or issue during my exam?

  • In the case of exam content-related concerns, report the issue in PrairieLearn. You should also contact your designated course staff after the exam
    • Proctors are unable to help with any content related questions.
  • If you encounter an issue with PrairieLearn, notify a proctor and follow their guidance. They will assist in troubleshooting the problem by coordinating with the CBTF administrators, who can provide further assistance.
  • If you encounter an issue with the physical computer you are using
    • Please raise your hand and inform a proctor immediately. They will assist you in finding a solution.
    • If the issue can be resolved within 10 minutes or less, you may be given some extra time to make up for the computer issue
      • If the computer has broken down, we will attempt to move you into a working computer station.
