The bCourses Gradebook now supports scheduling grades and feedback releases. Instructors can preconfigure the automatic release of grades and comments (together or separately) for individual assignments.
With this new feature, instructors can plan exactly when students see their grades and comments, and if this happens concurrently or on separate schedules. This feature provides instructors with greater flexibility and control over feedback timing, allowing them to align the release of rubric scores and comments with grading workflows, review sessions, or instructional pacing. This...
Gradescope LTI 1.3 is now available in bCourses. LTI 1.3 improves on 1.0 in several key ways, including increased security, and roster syncing that allows for syncing multiple sections from bCourses.
LTI 1.0 and 1.3 will exist in tandem during the Fall 2025 semester, before LTI 1.0 is fully deprecated in Spring 2026. Existing LTI 1.0 course and assignment links will not change after LTI 1.0 is deprecated. These links will still be fully functional in bCourses and courses linked using LTI 1.0 will still be able to sync rosters and post grades to...
As part of the Gender Recognition and Lived Name Policy, as of January 8, 2026, pronouns now display for users in bCourses who have opted to share them. Pronouns are sourced from official campus systems of record (CalCentral and/or UC Path) and will automatically be updated in bCourses in the same way that lived names are synced.
Starting for the Spring 2026 semester, instructors can use a new feature in bCourses called Discussion Checkpoints to set multiple due dates for graded discussions.
The graded Discussion Checkpoints feature enables instructors to support different stages of a discussion, such as initial posts and follow-up replies — setting different due dates and points for each stage. Beyond the initial response to a discussion prompt, instructors can require additional replies to peers and set a different due date for those responses. This feature is intended to allow for more structured...

For the past several months, we have been gradually updating these tools. We’ve already released new versions of the Roster Photos and Mailing Lists tools. Last week, we replaced the underlying processes that sync enrollments between bCourses and...
