What are Noncredit Programs on edX?

Fully Online and Asynchronous

Learners can engage with course materials at their own pace, on their own schedule.

Bite-Sized Learning

Courses are shorter than a typical university course and consist of brief video lectures, supplemental readings, discussion boards, and auto-graded assessments.

No Academic Credit

Although not offered for university credit, these programs provide valuable learning opportunities and skill development, with the option to earn a certificate for a fee.

Open to All

Anyone with an internet connection can enroll, with most courses available for free or at a significantly lower cost than alternative educational offerings.

Partner Information: Noncredit programs are offered in collaboration with edX, which is an online program manager (OPM) company. The roles and responsibilities of the OPM partner in the offering of the program are to provide the learning platform for the delivery of academic content, technical support for said platform, marketing support for the courses and programs, and creation of any credentials earned by the learner. UC Berkeley and UC Berkeley faculty are responsible for the creation of accessible academic content, instruction, grading and assessment.
