The Classroom of the Future pilot implemented in 219 Dwinelle for the Spring 2023 semester includes a beamforming mic, native video collaboration in the classroom, wireless presentation, and other features to improve the user experience.
The addition of a beamforming microphone in the classroom provides a simpler experience for voice capture without the extra steps of grabbing a microphone, checking battery levels, and careful placement. Furthermore, the beamforming microphone enables voice capture of anyone in the space, for example to capture audience discussion or Q&A, without any extra hassles.
The addition of a Zoom Room appliance means you can start a video conference session directly from the classroom - no extra wires or devices required. The Zoom Room solution provides a consistent interface experience with the rest of the Zoom ecosystem, so you should already be familiar with these controls.
The Zoom Room platform enables wireless presentation in a secure and easy-to-use way. With a few simple steps, you can get your content projected without the messy entanglement of wires and adapters.
The large monitors in the back of the room serves two major purposes - to allow the instructor to have a line of site both students in the classrooms and those joining remotely; and to have direct context to the projected presentation and camera during instruction without needing to redirect attention to a different part of the room.
