A Peek into the Future Classroom Tech Standard: Spring 2024 Updates

February 15, 2024

Responding to feedback from instructors and insights gleaned from the Classroom of the Future pilot program, our engineering team is gearing up to implement a range of new technologies aimed at enhancing the teaching and learning experience in a select set of classrooms in the Social Sciences Building for the Spring 2024 semester.

Beamforming Ceiling MicrophoneAmong the notable additions are ceiling beamforming microphones, designed to revolutionize audio capture in classrooms and virtual learning environments. These state-of-the-art microphones boast user-friendly features, providing audio capture without the need for bodypacks and clip-on mics. Furthermore, capturing student discussions for course capture purposes and ensuring clear communication for remote participants in platforms like Zoom can be easily done with the ceiling beamforming microphones without the need to tote around additional hardware to your classroom.

Rechargeable Microphone Dock

For instructors more comfortable with the use of traditional wireless lapel microphones, rechargeable docks are being added to offer a sustainable solution to battery management, significantly reducing waste while ensuring uninterrupted usage. Notably, the inclusion of a second battery pack on the dock ensures uninterrupted functionality, providing a seamless experience for instructors and learners alike.

These advancements represent just a glimpse of what's to come, as the Classroom Technology Services team prepares to unveil the next standard in classroom technology. With a focus on expanding options for engagement while simplifying the overall experience, instructors can anticipate even more exciting developments in the near future.

Stay tuned for further updates on the future of classroom technology as we plan to share more information on our next standard in the coming months.
