May 26, 2026 – 3:00–4:00 p.m.
Location: This hybrid event will be held in person in 127 Dwinelle Hall and also on Zoom.
Intended Audience: Faculty, Instructors, Graduate Student Instructors, Academic Support Staff
AI-assisted coding is changing how instructors build course materials. In this hands-on workshop, UC Berkeley instructor Eric VanDusen demonstrates how he uses AI coding tools to develop innovative curriculum — from interactive data notebooks to assessments, slide decks, and student projects. No advanced coding experience required.
In this session, instructors will learn to:
-
Use AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude, Copilot) to scaffold and accelerate curriculum development
-
Understand the "vibecoding" workflow: describing intent and iterating on AI-generated code
-
See real examples from data science courses built with AI support in Jupyter notebooks
-
Apply these techniques to their own materials — whether building new projects, problem sets, or visual content
-
Evaluate when AI-assisted coding saves time vs. when it needs careful review
Registration is not required, and you’re welcome to simply drop in, but it is encouraged to help us gauge attendance and provide you with a calendar invitation and Zoom details. ➡️Register for this session⬅️
