This is the second session in the three-part workshop series inspired by the Finding Space: Where Students with Disabilities Thrive podcast (other parts of the series: Part I, Part III.) This second workshop builds on the 25-minute podcast episode, Accommodations Can Transform Your Teaching - a Conversation with DSP Faculty Liaisons, Jonah Levy and Justin Davidson. Jonah and Justin reflect on how working with students with disabilities has transformed their teaching, making it more rewarding and effective, and how faculty partnerships with DSP staff improve student access.
Together in this session, we’ll explore real examples of inclusive syllabus design, and leave with practical instructor guidance for responding to accommodations with confidence and care.
We encourage you to listen to the episode before the workshop—it’ll help you get the most out of our time together.
This session will run for 30 minutes, with an additional 15 minutes reserved for questions.

She holds a M.A. in Leading for Education Organizations - Leading Change for Student Success in Higher Education. She has over 24 years of experience working in online education. Her expertise focuses on psychological safety, accessibility, strategic planning, fostering inclusive learning environments, and broad educational leadership encompassing organizational theory and social justice. |

Tara Mason, Ph.D., is the Universal Design for Learning Consultant at the Center for Teaching and Learning. She holds a Ph.D. in Special Education from Texas Tech University and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has over 20 years of experience working in K-12 as a special and general education teacher, coach, and interventionist. Her research primarily focuses on Universal Design for Learning, writing, promoting equity and inclusion, assistive technology, trauma-informed instruction, mentoring, and special education teacher preparation. |
