Flextensions

Overview

Flextensions is an automated assignment extension management tool created by UC Berkeley students and faculty in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) and supported by Research, Teaching & Learning Commons (RTL).

The platform provides a streamlined, centralized solution for managing, approving, and tracking student extension requests across all of their courses. By integrating directly with Gradescope and bCourses, Flextensions reduces the manual administrative burden on instructional teams by eliminating the need to manage individual extension requests via email, while enabling flexible, equitable deadline policies for students. Flextensions offers automated policy enforcement, instant status updates, and transparent tracking for both instructional teams and students.

Instructors Getting Started

  1. Go to flextensions.berkeley.edu to get started.
  2. Log in and accept the prompt to authorize access to your account via Canvas (bCourses).
  3. Use the documentation for instructors to set up Flextensions in your bCourses site or Gradescope.
  4. Review our FAQ for common questions.

Students Getting Started

  1. Once your instructor has enabled Flextensions, go to flextensions.berkeley.edu to get started.
  2. Log in and accept the prompt to authorize access to your account via Canvas (bCourses).
  3. Review the documentation for instructors for steps on how to make requests.
