Welcome to the New Undergraduate Academic Building Classrooms
We are thrilled to announce the opening of the new Undergraduate Academic Building (UAB), a modern addition to our campus teaching and learning spaces.
Classroom Highlights
The UAB is equipped to support diverse teaching styles.
- Classroom Variety: There are 25 classrooms with 32-seat capacity, a 108-seat classroom, and a 400-seat auditorium. Half of the classrooms are equipped with whiteboards, while the other half feature blackboards to suit various instructional preferences.
- Cutting-Edge Technology: Every room follows our Flex classroom standard, featuring a lectern with a height-adjustable table, wireless lapel and ceiling microphones for course capture, and integrated Zoom Room videoconference systems.
- Seamless Connectivity: Instructors and students can easily project content via USB-C, HDMI, or wireless screen sharing, enabling dynamic, interactive presentations from anywhere in the room.
The UAB Auditorium
Our new 400-seat auditorium is specifically engineered to foster engagement. With two rows of seats and tables on each tier, students can easily collaborate in "turn-to-talk" groups of four. Furthermore, projectors on every wall ensure that content is visible from any angle, and every seat can access power outlets to support student devices.
Explore Your New Teaching Spaces
We invite you to experience these spaces firsthand. RTL Commons will host open houses starting this week where you can get familiar with the technology in the auditorium (UAB 100), the large classroom (UAB 129), and one of the smaller classrooms (UAB 117). Please come by to explore the new classrooms and meet RTL Commons support staff:
- Friday, August 7: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
- Thursday, August 13: 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Important: Because the Golden Bear Orientation begins on August 18 until the first day of instruction, opportunities for individual classroom orientations will be very limited after August 17. We encourage you to join us for the open house or schedule your consultation soon.
