In addition to supporting instructors, Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) also conducts research on teaching and learning. Come learn about the different types of scholarship that members of CTL engage in! We will showcase several educational research projects through a round of quick lightning talks. By joining this showcase, attendees will learn:

What kinds of questions might inspire exploration into educational research?

What kinds of methods (qualitative, quantitative, mixed, and more) can be used to study teaching and learning?

How do diverse disciplinary and professional backgrounds inform our approach to educational research?

What have CTL staff learned through their research to advance teaching and learning at UC Berkeley?
This research seminar is sponsored by the Presidential Chair Fund(link is external), which supports expanding scholarship of teaching and learning to benefit undergraduate students across campus.
Light refreshments (e.g. coffee and bagels) will be served for in-person attendees.
This session will run for 60 minutes.

Dr. Melissa E. Ko is the Assessment & Curriculum Design Specialist at the Center for Teaching & Learning . Dr. Ko was trained as a computational cancer biologist having received her SB from MIT and her PhD from Stanford University. She pivoted into an education-focused career through several teaching roles at Stanford and other local institutions, before focusing on partnering with instructors to provide effective and inclusive learning experiences informed by data. |
